Wipro Day
I dedicated my most precious day from the last days of college life to the huge softy Wipro !!
Yes, Wipro visited our campus with the package of 7 lacs per annum. As it was allowed for people having grade point more than 8, so I was eligible for sitting in it. As I don’t have any interest in software so I attended its recruitment program just for the sake of fun.
In the morning, Wipro held a workshop that lasted for 3 hours. It was really a great experience to participate in the workshop. It was organized by Mr. Karan Pal Singh (Regional Campus Manager, Wipro Technologies.)
People were divided into 4 teams. His way of dividing the participants into teams was quite interesting. He told everyone to speak up a no. from 1-6 and again started from 1-6. Subsequently groups were made of people having same no. Later on he taught us a lesson by a group activity. He called one member from all the teams and gave them a piece of paper. He told everyone to close their eye and asked to fold the paper twice from the corner and then tear it. Finally when they opened the paper, all came up with a different structure. Thus he tried to show that although the problem was same but perception of everybody was different and hence they came up with different solutions.
"Always don’t be afraid of providing the solutions even if they are trifle because you never know which one would become a great idea. "
Later he told us to divide the group into leader, thinker, core member n ol. Then there was quiz round.
Some of interesting questions I would like to share:
1. A person and his father met with an accident. Father died instantly but son reached to hospital.
There surgeon said “I can’t operate him, he is my son.”
How?
2. A person was in the party. Everybody in the party was served punches to drink. All people drank the same. That very person drank punch and left very early. All people who drank punch died subsequently because of poison except that person….
How??
*Think out of the box.
3. Identify the person..
Clue 1. A person used to walk 7 miles to have good food at Hare Krishna temple once in a week.
Clue 2. A person who was thrown out of his own company.
And some more clues were there.

There were some more questions/ puzzles. So it was interesting to solve these.
After this quiz round ,a case study was given to us that which of 5 things will you prefer and why if you landed up in emergency at a desert.
1.Food 2. Mineral water 3. Torch 4. Flare signal 5. Hand knife 6. Pistol 7. First aid box 8.Compass
So we came up with 5 material with proper justification. After this our team was on no. 2 position.
Later a more challenging task was given to us. In that we were asked to make a business plan.
In my team one person already had a idea in the mind. So we wrote some text and information about that business plan on a chart and me and that person presented that. This plan was basically to implement the GPS system onto the public trasport buses with the purpose to avoid waiting for the buses. (We were not having exact idea that how we will be arranging money for implementing that plan but still somehow it went alright :P)
In between these rounds Karan was showing some interesting videos n fatte as well.
So in this way workshop came to end. Our team was on 2nd position so we couldn’t get any prize. [:(]
But still it was a nice experience to take part in this. I had hardly ever attended these kind of activities.
WELL after this workshop ppt was scheduled on 2:30 pm. So I came to hostel to have lunch and went back there on time. They were expecting very very talented people. They said “ The person for which they are looking for must be having a spark.”
After the ppt there was a
CASE STUDY round. This was related to summer internships that how people should decide where it should be done? And we were supposed to give solutions as to how these projects can be carried out throughout the year in collaboration with a company.
I provided some solutions and approaches. Subsequently there was a GD on the same case study.
I attended it just for the sake of fun. After this GD session I came back to hostel and slept. Later I came to know that 5 people were selected for interview. And finally it was heard that Wipro went back without giving placement to anybody!!

Yeah before i went for the Case study round hell lot of discussion were there. It was because: our branch has the rule of taking 1 job below 5 and one above 5 with a min difference of 2 lacs while many other branches had this barrier of 4 lacs. So according to our rule I was able to sit in it.
After that before the GD , again there were heated discussioms but this time it wasn’t because of me but of some one else. This sensitive issue I shouldn’t write publicly. But again, by writing SENSITIVE word will help us to remember all the happenings.
So I had a great time pass on that Sunday. It was fun.
